WEATHERCAP® is installed over sealant in a masonry joint. Its soft lead construction covers the sealant, protecting it from UV degradation and weather. It also reduces the effective joint opening and flexes with building movement, preventing the sealant from tearing or losing its bond, which dramatically extends its service life.

Absolutely. While renowned for historic preservation, WEATHERCAP® is also ideal for new construction projects requiring maximum durability. Incorporating our system from the outset ensures long-term protection for masonry joints, minimizing future maintenance costs associated with sealant failure. The A-2 model is specifically for new construction.

Type A (Flat Cap) is for joints between masonry units on the same plane, such as copings and the top joints of lintels. Type B (90° Cove Cap) is used for right-angle joints, like where a projecting lintel meets a vertical wall, or around window and door frames.

Soft lead is uniquely suited for this role. It has a low elastic modulus, allowing it to flex and creep into new shapes as the building moves without failing. It is highly resistant to corrosion and mold, and it oxidizes to a neutral grey color that blends seamlessly with stone and masonry, preserving architectural aesthetics.
