Type A (Flat Cap) is for joints between masonry on the same plane, like top joints on copings and cornices. Type B (90° Cove Cap) is for right-angle joints, such as where a horizontal window sill or water table meets a vertical wall, providing a continuous, protected seal at the intersection.
