Lead Flashing Corners: How to Dress Internal

In masonry, a corner flashing is a protective covering for joints where horizontal and vertical surfaces meet. Our WEATHERCAP® system is a soft lead flashing designed specifically to cover and protect the sealant in these vulnerable corner joints.

While traditional roof flashing interacts with tiles, our WEATHERCAP® system is for masonry joints. It is placed over the caulk or sealant within the joint to shield it from weather and movement, rather than being integrated with roofing tiles.

Roof corner flashing methods vary greatly. For masonry corners, such as on parapets or cornices, the WEATHERCAP® system provides a durable, flexible lead cap that protects the underlying sealant from environmental stress and water damage, ensuring a long-lasting seal.

Our WEATHERCAP® system is made of soft, malleable lead supplied in 6-foot lengths, which can be easily cut on-site with standard tools. For corners, the Type B profile is pre-formed to a 90-degree angle, simplifying installation and minimizing cutting.

For an outside masonry corner, our Type B WEATHERCAP®, a 90-degree cove cap, is the ideal solution. It is designed to sit directly over the sealant in the corner joint, protecting it from UV exposure and accommodating building settlement without shearing.

Properly installed WEATHERCAP® lead flashing offers a clean, uniform appearance. Its surface rapidly oxidizes to a neutral grey color that blends seamlessly and attractively with most stone, brick, and masonry, making it ideal for historic buildings.
