Type A caps have a flat configuration and are used for masonry units set in approximately the same plane, such as the cross joints on copings or lintels. Type B caps have a 90-degree cove configuration, designed for right-angle joints where horizontal and vertical surfaces meet, like a cornice joining a wall.

Our products are used extensively in both historic preservation and new construction. Common applications include protecting joints on parapets, copings, balustrades, cornices, belt courses, window and door lintels, and entrance steps. They are ideal for any exterior stone or masonry joint vulnerable to weather and movement.

By covering the sealant, WEATHERCAP® shields it from direct exposure to UV radiation, moisture, and environmental stressors, which prolongs its life. The soft lead also absorbs stress from building movement and reduces the effective opening of the joint, preventing the sealant from tearing or losing adhesion (margin checking).

Specifying our system during the design phase ensures long-term protection for masonry joints from day one, preventing costly moisture-related repairs in the future. Our A-2 Type A cap is specifically designed for new construction installations.

WEATHERCAP® products are made from a soft lead composition. This material is chosen for its unique properties: it remains flexible, creeps into new joint configurations as buildings move, and resists corrosion and mold. Due to the lead content, installers should follow OSHA guidelines, including using gloves and washing thoroughly after handling.

All WEATHERCAP® products are supplied in standard 6-foot lengths, which can be easily cut and fitted on-site.
