Unlike typical flashing that is nailed or screwed, WEATHERCAP® soft lead flashing is installed directly into a sealant-filled masonry joint. Its splined anchor shaft is embedded in the sealant, creating a secure, integrated, and flexible bond that moves with the structure without the need for mechanical fasteners, preventing new points of water entry.

Our system is ideal for horizontal and vertical masonry joints. It is available in a Type A flat cap for same-plane joints (like on copings and cornices) and a Type B 90° cove cap for right-angle joints (like where window sills meet walls or at parapets). This versatility covers most architectural masonry conditions.

Yes, our soft lead flashing can be painted to match the surrounding masonry or architectural trim. It naturally oxidizes to a neutral grey that blends well with most stone and mortar, but painting offers additional aesthetic flexibility for designers and architects who require a specific color match for their project's design scheme.

Type A is a flat cap designed for joints between masonry units that are on the same plane, such as the top joints of a coping or a belt course. Type B is a 90-degree cove cap designed for right-angle joints, such as where a projecting window lintel meets a vertical wall or at the base of a parapet.
